Terminology

Template - Any document with pre-made headings, sections, styles, and fields.

Element - Headings, equations, figures, tables, and references.

Cross-reference - Text in MS Word that refers directly to other text in the document. Will update when the source text is changed (generally requires pressing Ctrl+A and F9).

Field Codes - Text that is automatically generated by MS Word. Includes cross-references.

Yellow text - Filler text that describes the type of text that belongs in a section of the document.

Styles - Feature in MS Word that can be applied to quickly change the appearance and layout of text, both per character and per paragraph.

STREAM Tools - Collaborative writing system developed by Alexander Mamishev and Sean Williams.
